GREGORY W. SUTEK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship for academic and athletic excellence has been set up by the family of Gregory W. Sutek in his honor.

Gregory was a 2016 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School.  He was a scholar athlete throughout his high school career and was gifted with exceptional academic and athletic abilities.  As a boy, he was constantly reading and had a love of learning that paralleled his love of sports. He was identified as gifted in elementary school and was accelerated in academics.

Gregory was an avid baseball player since his first day of T-ball.  He played middle infield for the Elizabeth Forward High School baseball team as well as for AAU travel and various local league teams.  He was a member of both his school and the Y swim teams and was a WPIAL qualifying swimmer. He was active in his church youth group throughout his life.  After graduation, he attended Saint Vincent College on an academic scholarship as a Biology/Pre-med major where he also played baseball.  After college, he had planned to go on to medical school and specialize in sports medicine. 

Gregory was as caring and loving as he was smart and talented.  He passed in a tragic accident on June 14, 2017,  just 19 days after his 19th birthday.  In his short life, he lived more fully and loved more deeply than many who live to see their nineties.  His faith in God and his loyalty to those he loved ran deep.  His family would like to honor his memory by assisting Elizabeth Forward students who exemplify the same outstanding character, academic, and athletic qualities as Gregory so his light may shine forever.
